Assisting Government with Regulation Reform for Small Business On Thursday May 16th, the Long Island City / Astoria Chamber of Commerce will host a meeting of executives from other Chambers of Commerce so that we can begin to pool our resources and strengthen our advocacy for small businesses. Over-regulation and aggressive enforcement by Agencies of NYC Government has been endemic in NYC; and while Speaker Christine Quinn and the City Council and Administration have recently passed new bills to identify the regulation that could be eliminated, or fines changed to warnings, and to improve training of inspectors, the fact is that this is a complicated task. These agencies, the City Council, and the Administration need our help if we want to have them do the right thing. We have a responsibility to our members to help.
